Welcome! This website will give you a brief description of how I work and some information about me. I hope this is useful to you and helps in making a decision regarding your therapy needs. I have been a licensed psychotherapist trained in Marriage and Family Therapy since 1987. I have training in PACT and I am a graduate Hakomi Institute. I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families to live more fully, heal, and learn new skills to live life with more awareness and presence.
I use a somatic / mindfulness approach (Hakomi) with traditional talk therapy. Much of the anguish and stress we go through is unnecessary and the result of subconscious beliefs. We all create perceptions from our experiences but our brains tend to not update themselves, and operate from old "data". We are mostly unaware of these organizing beliefs, which have powerful influences on our decision making and how fully we are able live. Good therapy is about helping you discover these limiting beliefs and unlocking the emotional learning that maintains them. When we lose our direction, our spark, or our ability to feel joy, life is telling us something. What is it? This is confusing to sort out alone. I believe symptoms are messages and we need to listen. When we slow down and open our awareness to our direct experience, new understanding emerges. Then we deepen experience through designed experiments within the session. Most of us pay attention to thoughts primarily, which can be helpful, but are not the whole story. I help my clients break through habitual patterns to understand their experience of painful interactions and symptoms. By providing a safe, nonjudgmental environment, I use my 30 years of therapy experience to help you discover limiting beliefs and constricting habits that narrow your ability to experience a fresh view. Learn new tools of understanding and reclaim lost parts of yourself and your life. Please call or email me with questions or to set your first appointment.
